Sermon Note

Pastor Lawrence

God loves you and is loving you today

Psalms 22:1-2

To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.

My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

Why are You so far from helping Me,

And from the words of My groaning?

O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;

And in the night season, and am not silent.

Genesis 49:21

“Naphtali is a deer let loose;

He uses beautiful words.

David was going through something when he wrote this.

Perhaps you felt at the circumstances that God is no longer with you

Jesus likewise cried out. My God My God why have you forsaken me!

He has done this. It is finished.

Jesus quoted the entire Psalm, but only first verse of the psalm was recorded

At the cross, Jesus cried out My God My God why have you forsaken Me. At the cross He was forsaken by God. He was betrayed by His own disciples

He was cut off from all communion with God

The light of the world was extinguished at the cross when holiness became sin because He was carrying our sins

God is with us. He loves us and He is with us

You never ever need to declare it.

Job 32:1-2

So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was aroused against Job; his wrath was aroused because he justified himself rather than God.

Job 33:8-13

“Surely you have spoken in my hearing,

And I have heard the sound of your words, saying,

‘I am pure, without transgression;

I am innocent, and there is no iniquity in me.

Yet He finds occasions against me,

He counts me as His enemy;

He puts my feet in the stocks,

He watches all my paths.’

“Look, in this you are not righteous.

I will answer you,

For God is greater than man.

Why do you contend with Him?

For He does not give an accounting of any of His words.

Job is not altogether perfect. He lived before the cross.

The cross of Jesus Christ has changed everything

Lets have a good opinion of God

Job humbled himself, God restored Him

Our God is good, always! Only good!

Job never blame God even when he was going through suffering

Psalms 22:3-5

But You are holy,

Enthroned in the praises of Israel.

Our fathers trusted in You;

They trusted, and You delivered them.

They cried to You, and were delivered;

They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

It ended with a shout of victory! The triumph at the cross

Psalms 22:6-8

But I am a worm, and no man;

A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

All those who see Me ridicule Me;

They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

“He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;

Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

He compared Himself to a worthless worm. He was despised by His people.

Psalms 22:14-18

I am poured out like water,

And all My bones are out of joint;

My heart is like wax;

It has melted within Me.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd,

And My tongue clings to My jaws;

You have brought Me to the dust of death.

For dogs have surrounded Me;

The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.

They pierced My hands and My feet;

I can count all My bones.

They look and stare at Me.

They divide My garments among them,

And for My clothing they cast lots.

Something happened to His body. He lost all His strength. He was thirsty and suffered in pain.

How did David know that? He was prophetic. By His stripes, we are healed!

He took the sour wine so that we will never be cursed.

Psalms 22:22

I will declare Your name to My brethren;

In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

Suffering at the cross but He wants to praise God

Psalms 22:23

You who fear the LORD, praise Him!

All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,

And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!

Hebrews 2:12

saying:

“I will declare Your name to My brethren;

In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

The Lord is telling us to sing praises to God in the midst of greatest trials

Psalms 22:26

The poor shall eat and be satisfied;

Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.

Let your heart live forever!

All the end of the world shall remember and praise the Lord!

He calls us to worship God

A call to worship

Does not matter what you are going through, praise the Lord

You are called to worship!

Psalms 22:27-31

All the ends of the world

Shall remember and turn to the LORD,

And all the families of the nations

Shall worship before You.

For the kingdom is the LORD’s,

And He rules over the nations.

All the prosperous of the earth

Shall eat and worship;

All those who go down to the dust

Shall bow before Him,

Even he who cannot keep himself alive.

A posterity shall serve Him.

It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,

They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,

That He has done this.

Remember 3 words : Praise the Lord

Acts 16, they prayed and sang praises to the Lord.

There is a difference. They sang praises to the Lord

In the midnight, don’t just pray, PRAISE the Lord!

Your victory is in you praising God!

Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His mercy endures forever.
