Romans 9:30-33
Present Condition of Israel
What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. As it is written:
“Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,
And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
Romans 4:13
The Promise Granted Through Faith
For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
Hebrews 4:14
Our Compassionate High Priest
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Righteousness by faith. Not by law
Confession that Jesus is my High Priest, He has paid it all.
2 Corinthians 4:13
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,
Call forth the things you want even though they seems not.
Can righteousness be attained by following the 10 commandments?
No
Only God can bridle your heart
Declare you are righteous by faith
Why is your understanding of our righteousness in Christ so important for our Christian walk today?
What can you do as a righteous person?
Whenever Jesus heals someone, He will say go and sin no more.
We are redeemed from the curse, the sicknesses have been removed by the Lord
The prayers of the righteous avails much.
Progdial son parable
Who sinned against his father? Elder or younger?
The younger son sinned.
The elder son was angry. He was thinking about himself and his friends.
This is a picture of law and grace
The father said all that he has is already his.
You hear the elder brother no more after that.
The words of the elder brother showed us an important hint.
He said i have not sinned against you.
The father said you have been with me from the beginning. Jesus was with the Father from the beginning. All that He has is His.
This is also a beautiful picture of the elder brother. A type of Jesus who sacrificed Himself so that the younger brother can have the inheritance
It is not something to be taken lightly.
We have been made the likeness of God.
David was anointed in front of his brothers to be king.
In front of men families and loved ones, he defeated Goliath. Songs was written about him
He was anointed king
He said “i am weak today though anointed king”
We have an inheritance but we are feeling like David. I am weak today though anointed king.
20 years later (since anointed by Samuel and has reigned in Israel for 7 years)
20 years even though he had all the victories.
We need to be reminded of our righteousness because we will forget.
2 Samuel 5:12
So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted His kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
We need to be reminded
If we feel we are weak though anointed kings.
You are the righteousness of God in Christ.
Are you believing God to prosper you?
Trust God for more. Not just money. Money is a very low tier.
God will give you position of influence.
