Chapter 6

Feeding the Five Thousand

After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.

Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
John 6:8-11
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”

Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
John 6:12-14

So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
All 4 gospels record this particular miracle.

5 loaves yet they could feed more than 5000!
Jesus showed Himself as the Bread of life.

Today if any of you are hungry for more of God, today Jesus is our Supply, our Everything.
After this passage, John referred back to this incident again.
John 6:23

however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks—
He highlighted they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks!
Jesus giving thanks is very significant!
Today if u feel like u need increase, multiplication of shalom, this is the key!
You wanna increase, thanksgiving is the key!
Why must we give to God thanks?

His heart is to bless us. Thanksgiving is a fruit of relationship. Thanksgiving is not a formula.
Understand the hearts of thanksgiving. He loves us! When we look up and said thank you so much, it gives Him so much pleasure!
Psalms 100:4

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,

And into His courts with praise.

Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Eulogeo

Eu = good

Logos = speak
To speak well of, to bless, praise
He saw the grace come down. He has not seen the loaves multiplied yet. He saw the grace come down first and He gave thanksgiving.
Jesus did this!

He was on earth moved as Son of men. He has uninterrupted fellowship with the Father. He saw the grace come down. He was not acting.
The Son of God gave thanks! John saw that! It must have been some anointed powerful thanksgiving!
Jesus looking up and see grace come pouring down!!
We look up and see the grace of God.
Look up, see His grace and say thank you!
Grace is been poured down and that is why we can see miracles!
Philippians 4:6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Don’t have to be anxious for anything!

Whatever you are anxious of, in every situation, by prayer, by supplication (asking) with thanksgiving (looking up and see the grace of God pour down on me) and we can stop been anxious!
Continue to thank God with ur request.

When our eyes are on men, we can get angry and anxious.
With thanksgiving, looking up and Multiply the loaves!
Don’t have to be anxious but look up!
Upward looking one!

We are made to look up!

When we look up we see the grace of God!
Why are we complaining?

We have not been giving thanks. Instead we have been giving voice to our flesh and started complaining.
When we placed on others, we make them stress.
People complain about their jobs and their bosses and colleagues.

Some people have no jobs to complain about.
Why are u complaining and not giving thanks?
Adoration

Confess who i am in Christ

Thanksgiving
Your grumbling is not going to help.

Look up and trust God to change the situation.
Every good things we have, He has blessed us with it, so that we can thank Him!
Deuteronomy 8:7-10

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you.
Don’t ever forget He is the One who bless us!
Deuteronomy 8:11-14
“Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
He did all of that to do us good!
Deuteronomy 8:15-18

who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end— then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
The Lord wants us to know He is good to us!
It is not us, not our strength and might which got us all this blessing!
Cursed is the man who trust in men!
Jeremiah 17:5-8

Thus says the Lord:

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man

And makes flesh his strength,

Whose heart departs from the Lord.

For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,

And shall not see when good comes,

But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,

In a salt land which is not inhabited.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

And whose hope is the Lord.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,

Which spreads out its roots by the river,

And will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,

And will not be anxious in the year of drought,

Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
There is good but u don’t even see it. Instead u grumble at them!
Give thanks, look up and see Jesus has already given us!!

Grace come into my situation!!
If u trust in yourself, u r in parched land (dry)
When you look up, you are seeing the grace of God. A God who is for you and not against you.
Be the person, is not about me or her, we can receive from Jesus and not demand from people.
All of us are stinging in and of ourselves.

When one think he is good and he demand good from other people’s flesh, always fault-finding.

Only One Person is good. Jesus!

We can depend on Him!
Jeremiah 17:8

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,

Which spreads out its roots by the river,

And will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,

And will not be anxious in the year of drought,

Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
You don’t have to be anxious. Does not depend on yourself
The Lord wants us to know this

We have a God who is good. We can just look up everything.
Hands up to Jesus, that is the posture. Just like a baby.
Our part is stretch out our hands and say Daddy God.
This is possible because of what Jesus has done for us.
We can look up today and see wave upon wave of blessing on us.
Jesus was bruised wave upon wave of judgement fell upon Him
What we can do, we look up and can see wave upon wave of blessing on us!
He was beaten that we might be blessed!
Look up today and see wave upon wave of blessing. Finished means all punishment taken and removed.
Look up and see blessing is ours!
