The Wedding

Why the bible said Jesus is the Only Way, the truth and the Life?

If you come to a cross road, and you see two paths, you see one dead person lying down and one person alive, who will you ask for direction?

John 2
The wedding story in Cana.
The couple names were not mentioned.

When our names are not mentioned, we feel we are not important.

Only Jesus can turn water into wine

First miracle was in Cana.

How come first miracle is in Cana and in wedding?

Chapter 2 starts Cana.
Chapter 1 – Nathanael

Greater thing you will see.
See the greater miracle. And the greater miracle is in the wedding.

Why wedding?

Marriage is an event where the bride marries into the family. New life starts.

What is the most important thing in God’s heart?
Salvation!

What is the first miracle in your life?
Salvation!

Relate this to what he does in Cana

Who is the bride and who is the bridegroom?
He invited us.

God’s heart is for salvation. To get people saved.

Go for the Word that change your life.

What we do in the ministry is the wedding ceremony where non believers are invited.

Every Sunday is very important ceremony for the Bridegroom and for the bride to be.

We all have a part to play in this ceremony.

When the wine went out, they came to Jesus. It is a huge humiliation for the wine to go out. Jewish wedding last for a week.

John 2:3-5
And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

When Jesus said something, whatever He says do it.

Only the mother had a taste of who the Messiah is.

She had the intention to impose on Jesus to create the miracle.

Waterpot – purification
6 – nos of man

Fill the waterpot with water.
The servant has the role of filling the waterpot with water.

Waterpot is there for purification purpose.

On a context of Sunday services, the waterpot is empty. We don’t need to cleanse ourselves to be in church.

John 2:10
And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

The last shall be the first.

Jesus came down to get us out so that He can get us up to heaven.

When you think you are down and out, look up!

Get ready to go!

Our situation is always down, out and UP! Get ready, we are ready to be up!

Those who are serving or not serving, it is always not about us who are serving the Lord. We are never shortchanged in serving.

You are God’s best! You are God’s beloved!

People come on Sunday, not knowing they will encounter their Bridegroom (Jesus)
They meet their Bridegroom in church. We are part of this wedding! The wedding that change the whole life. It is not just individual life, but how it affects the whole family life.

The very presence we are there standing there, turn up for serving, we are serving already.

Because of your smile, someone got married in the family of Jesus.

Sunday is where the Word can go forth.

Don’t see a Sunday serving as something not important. It changes people’s lives!

Jesus is not unfaithful to forget the little things.

This person can go into church with angry face but come out of the church with happy face.

Salvation is the most important thing in our lives.

What we are doing physically may look something small but in the eyes of God, is something significant.

Jesus turns water into wine.

Wedding can happen anywhere. Couple names are not mentioned and the venue is not mentioned. The important thing is the Wedding.

The One who host the Wedding is Jesus Himself.

Everyone has a role to play in the church.
From the back-end job to front-end job, all are important.

In order for the congregation to receive grace of God they have to experience the grace of God. We give the experience when we serve in the ministry.

People want to come to church to experience grace!

How privilege! We are ambassador of Christ.
Many are called few are chosen.
All of us are anointed but not all appointed. There is always a time we are appointed.

Joseph got the dream at the age 17 but he was appointed years later.

Anointed to appointed there is a time period.

Every step up is a set up!
