Sermon Note (2nd Svc)

Rev Col Stringer

2 Timothy 3:1-2

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Perilous – ranging insane

It was also used in the account of the man who was demonic attacked.

It is not just what you eat, is what eat you.

Stress today is one of the big killers.

Stress changes your genes. It causes brain damage and cause inflammation. It is bad for bones and muscles and relationships.

How do you deal with stress?

Hebrews 4:1-3

The Promise of Rest

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,

‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Rest of God

Peace in your life

You have to mix faith with what you hear.

Those who believed do enter that rest.

What you believe determines where you stay eternity

A lot of people believe with their head and not in their hearts.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

In the crisis of life, what you believe will come to a forefront

Speak what you believe

What you believe in your heart shows.

Smith Wigglesworth, the only book he read was bible and he did not have all the resources. But he rose 20 people from dead.

Mark 6:1-6

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

(Matt. 13:53–58; Luke 4:16–30)

Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Simply believe and receive.

There must be something we can do to stop the work of God. It is our choice what we believe.

Blessing and cursing, life and death, we choose.

What we focus on is what we choose. We choose what we focus on.

Wander in the wilderness for 40 years because they don’t believe.

Your heart is the blueprint for your life. The mastermind for your life.

Proverbs 23:7

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

“Eat and drink!” he says to you,

But his heart is not with you.

Some people see themselves sick or losers.

Is the image of your life.

If you don’t like your life, change the image of your heart.

The word contains images!

Joshua 1:7-8

Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Meditate – to mutter

Take the word and keep on speaking over and over until it produces images in your heart

Healing, protection, we are complete in Him

Nothing will ever separate us from the ℓσνє of God, not even ourselves.

The anointing and grace to deliver healing in our life.

Some people want healing but they meditate on things other than healing

What you see yourselves in your heart, will show up.

My grace is sufficient for you.

Believe that you are already healed.

If you don’t like your life, change your heart.

Psalms 1:1-3

BOOK ONE

Psalms 1–41

The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly

Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

We meditate negatively called worry!

So we can meditate day and night.

Renew your youth like eagles! Images images! Spirit relates to images.

Our bodies react to it.

Leaf shall not wither – it speaks about our bodies

Whatever he does shall prosper! Whatever – financial, health, whatever

Something has to change in the image of our heart

The way we see ourselves matters.

Divide the joint from the spirit.

Ephesians 1:15-19

Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

Eyes of your understanding – heart

We need to focus on the finished work of Christ.

The cross makes all the difference

We forgive because we are already forgiven.

God is ℓσνє. It is not He has ℓσνє, He is ℓσνє Himself.

John described himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved.

John outrun Peter. He was at the tomb. He was at feet of the cross when Jesus died

1 John 4:7-8 (NKJV)

Knowing God Through Love

(cf. John 3:16)

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Unconditional ℓσνє

1 John 4:7-8 (MSG)

God Is Love

My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.

The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love.

What do you need to do to get saved?

Believe.

Simply believe.

1 John 4:16

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:17-19

The Consummation of Love

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.

Whatever your problem is, can you see yourself healed?

Can you see your marriage together again?

The image of your heart will change your life.

Unconditional ℓσνє.

Change your heart. Maybe you think it is over.

Focus on the answer not the problem.

Hebrews 4:3-12

For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,

‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts.”

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

The Word Discovers Our Condition

Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What you focus on will affect what you believe.

Proverbs 4:20-23

My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh.

Keep your heart with all diligence,

For out of it spring the issues of life.

Keep or guard your heart with all diligence.

No matter what your problem is, the answer is the Word of God.

You are the head and not the tail.
