Sermon Note
Pastor Lian
Job 42:12 NLT
12 So the Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. For now he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 teams of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
Job 42:17 NLT
17 Then he died, an old man who had lived a long, full life.
The heart is well. My youth renewed
Life is like a marathon
God can do even more. He can bless you even more in the second half of your race.
Regardless of how we start we can end strong
Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Cloud of witnesses
Hebrews 11:32 NKJV
32 And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:
There are so many of these witnesses
In the race of life, there are people cheering us up.
They are the saints the believers who have already run their race. They are cheering us up.
When you and I witness what they witnessed, we will run our race well
Hebrews 11:4 NKJV
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
He knows God’s heart. God knows there is no way by the work of our hands we can be righteous
God is the One who will provide the sacrifice
We are made righteous by the blood of Jesus not by the works of our hands
We will not be filled with shame even if we lose our jobs
God will be the One who give me a job. I will not hide at home and feel i am a loser
We see Jesus and our Jesus has been so faithful to us. We run our race well
Hebrews 11:5-6 NKJV
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Without faith it is impossible to please Him
Enoch witnessed that God likes to hang out with us
God is a Rewarder
He is the first person in the bible who raptured.
How strength comes! How does strength renewed? As we sit in the stillness and silence, in the presence of God
We see how beautiful and powerful He is
Do I really believe You can heal? Sit still and just believe He can heal me
As we look at the great cloud of witnesses, we see Jesus
What did Abraham see?
You bless me with this son Issac
Abraham knew God is able and also able to raise Issac from the dead
Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
God wants to bless us even more
Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
When we see Him, our hearts are so full.
Even though the problems are still there, it is not inside our hearts
